Davao City—A violent clash erupted in the early hours of January 29, 2025, during an illegal demolition in San Roque, Bangkal, Davao City, leading to the arrest of 65 individuals and the rescue of nine minors.
According to the initial investigation conducted by the Talomo Police Station, approximately 200 individuals were involved in the forced and unlawful demolition of structures in the area, resulting in chaos and disorder among the residents.
The incident turned fatal when one of the individuals engaged in the demolition, identified as Nolly Campos, 30, from Maa, Davao City, was accidentally shot and killed by a fellow demolisher. The suspect, known only by the alias “Jun Jun” or “Libat,” is currently being pursued by law enforcement authorities.
Authorities have taken the arrested individuals into custody, along with confiscated evidence, while efforts are ongoing to locate other participants involved in the illegal activity.
Meanwhile, the nine rescued minors have been turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) for appropriate intervention and support.
Police continue to investigate the incident and urge the public to report any information that may aid in locating the remaining suspects.
