Piagapo, Lanao del Sur – PCOL Robert S. Daculan, Provincial Director of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDS PPO), commended the personnel of Piagapo Municipal Police Station (MPS) for their swift and effective action that led to the arrest of a suspect identified as alias “Damen.” The arrest took place on December 27, 2024, at 10:30 AM in Barangay Bubo, Piagapo, Lanao del Sur.
The suspect faces charges for Grave Threat and violation of Republic Act 10591, also known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The arrest followed a request for police assistance by the suspect’s sister, who reported threats and intimidation directed towards their father and other family members.
According to initial investigations, the family dispute arose after the father reprimanded the suspect for alleged involvement in criminal activities, including theft, swindling, and other forms of deception.
Responding promptly to the incident, the Piagapo police managed to de-escalate the situation, which ultimately resulted in the suspect’s peaceful surrender. During the operation, authorities recovered one improvised 12-gauge pipe gun and one 12-gauge live ammunition from the suspect.
The suspect, along with the seized evidence, has been placed in the custody of Piagapo MPS for proper disposition and filing of charges.
PCOL Daculan praised the professionalism and responsiveness of the Piagapo MPS personnel in handling the case, highlighting their dedication to maintaining peace and order in the community.
“The successful arrest reflects our commitment to ensuring the safety of our communities. Let this serve as a reminder that the police remain vigilant in addressing all forms of criminal activities,” Daculan said.
The LDS PPO continues to encourage residents to cooperate with law enforcement authorities and report incidents to help maintain peace and security in the province.
