Surigao del Norte — In a significant milestone in the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) relentless campaign against illegal drugs, the Surigao City Police Station apprehended a suspect during a meticulously planned and executed buy-bust operation. The operation, conducted yesterday at Purok-Rosas, Dulong, Roxas Extension in Barangay Washington, Surigao City, marks another victory in the battle against narcotics.

The Officer-In-Charge of the Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (SDNPPO), Police Colonel Nilo T. Texon, identified the arrested individual as “Junjun,” a 29-year-old laborer and resident of Surigao City. The operation targeted the suspect, newly identified as a street-level drug personality in the province.

Around 12:15 PM, law enforcement personnel conducted the buy-bust operation, which culminated in the suspect’s arrest. A police poseur-buyer successfully purchased one sachet of suspected shabu weighing 0.16 grams with a street value of PHP 1,088. The operation’s success was ensured with the presence of barangay officials, reflecting strong community collaboration.

In addition to the sachet involved in the transaction, police confiscated six more heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu. The total confiscated drugs weighed approximately 5 grams and had an estimated street value of PHP 34,000. Authorities also recovered a cigarette pack and a PHP 1,000 marked bill used in the operation.

PCOL Texon praised his team’s unwavering dedication, stating, “This achievement provides concrete proof that our men are working diligently in the fight against narcotic groups and drug-related individuals. Our unit’s intelligence-driven strategy highlights the importance of operational conduct aligned with our mandates.”

The suspect and the confiscated items are now under the custody of the Surigao City Police Station for proper disposition. The case will proceed under the provisions of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
