Surigao City, Philippines – October 29, 2024
A high-stakes buy-bust operation led to the arrest of a high-value drug suspect in Surigao City on October 29. The suspect, known by the alias “Cy/Dong,” is a 28-year-old private employee and resident of Surigao City. His male companion, who is also implicated, remains at large.
Police authorities from the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Surigao City Police Station, under the Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office, apprehended the suspect at Barangay Canlanipa, where he was allegedly caught selling illegal substances, violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (R.A. 9165). Confiscated items included ten sachets of suspected shabu, with a total estimated value of Php 474,910.00, along with marked money and other paraphernalia.
PCOL Nilo T. Texon, officer in charge of the Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office, underscored the force’s ongoing commitment to combatting illegal drugs in the region. “Our non-stop buy-bust operations in the province are a testament that our SurNte cops are protecting the Surigaonons from the spread of these illegal drugs, which can destroy the lives of the locals. We will not tolerate this kind of violation. We will make sure that these lawless elements will not prosper,” Texon stated.
The suspect and confiscated items are currently under the custody of the Surigao City Police Station as legal proceedings commence.
