Maigo, Lanao del Norte — In a decisive effort to combat illegal drug activities, a composite team from Tubod Municipal Police Station (MPS) personnel, together with the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office (LDN PPO), 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), and Police Intelligence Unit (PIU) successfully conducted a joint anti-illegal drug operation on December 23, 2024, in Purok-4, Poblacion, Maigo, Lanao del Norte.
The operation was conducted under the authority of Search Warrant No. 24-0088, issued by Hon. Richie Gay T. Mendoza, Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, 12th Judicial Region, Branch 07, Tubod, Lanao del Norte. The search warrant, coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), pertained to violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
During the operation, law enforcement officials arrested a 34-year-old male suspect, a tricycle driver residing in the area. The search of the suspect’s residence resulted in the recovery of the following items:
- Seven (7) small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, with a total weight of 0.21 gram and an estimated street value of Php 1,428.00.
- One (1) maroon coin purse.
- Twenty-five (25) pesos in coins of various denominations.
The suspect is currently in the custody of the Maigo MPS, where charges for violation of Section 11, Article II of RA 9165 are being prepared for filing.
Provincial Director PCOL Roy A. Magsalay commended the operating personnel for their excellent work. “This operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat the illegal drug trade and uphold the rule of law. The collaboration among different units demonstrates the effectiveness of joint efforts in addressing the challenges posed by illegal drugs in our communities,” he stated.
The successful operation highlights the dedication of Lanao del Norte’s law enforcement agencies in their ongoing campaign to ensure the safety and security of the province’s residents.
