Boston, Davao Oriental — Acting on information provided by vigilant residents, troops from the 67th Infantry (Agila) Battalion under the 701st Infantry (Kagitingan) Brigade swiftly conducted a military operation in Sitio Manawi, Barangay Simulao, on December 8, 2024. The operation led to an engagement that resulted in the recovery of a grenade launcher, a medical kit, and various other items. Fortunately, no casualties were reported among government forces, while the condition of the armed group remains unknown.

The operation forms part of the 10th Infantry Division’s (10ID) intensified Focused Military Operations aimed at defeating remnants of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) and the Integrated Territorial Defense System (ITDS). These efforts underscore the Agila Division’s commitment to maintaining the insurgency-free status of the Davao Region.

Major General Allan Hambala, Commander of the Agila Division, expressed gratitude for the public’s active participation and trust in the military. He highlighted the critical role of community collaboration in sustaining peace and progress in the region.

“The people of the Davao Region have shown their commitment to the peace and vibrant way of life we now enjoy. The sustained cooperation between residents and our soldiers reflects a shared resolve to maintain this stability. Together, we ensure that the achievements we’ve worked hard for are preserved,” said Maj. Gen. Hambala.

The ITDS has been pivotal in fostering collaboration between local communities and security forces, effectively preventing the resurgence of armed groups within the 10ID’s area of operations. This latest operation exemplifies the ongoing partnership between security forces and the community, ensuring the region’s safety and stability.
