Banga, South Cotabato – In a significant blow to illegal drug operations in the region, joint elements of the Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit (MDEU) of Banga MPS, SCPDEU (lead unit), RPDEU 12, SCPIU, and the 2nd SCPMFC, in coordination with PDEA 12, successfully apprehended two individuals involved in illegal drug activities on December 3, 2024. The operation took place in Purok Halangdon, Barangay Benitez, Banga, South Cotabato.
The suspects, identified as alias Kim, a 40-year-old self-employed male, and alias Raffy, a 31-year-old mechanic, are both residents of Barangay Benitez. They were arrested during a buy-bust operation that yielded significant evidence pointing to their involvement in the drug trade.
Authorities confiscated the following items during the operation:
- One rectangular heat-sealed sachet containing suspected shabu used as the object of sale.
- A genuine PHP 1,000 bill (marked as buy-bust money).
- Two additional rectangular heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu with a total weight of 8.4 grams and an estimated street value of PHP 57,120.
The confiscated evidence has been sent to the Provincial Forensic Unit 12 in Barangay Morales, Koronadal City, for laboratory examination. Meanwhile, the suspects are in the custody of the Banga MPS for proper documentation and disposition.
This operation underscores the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) unwavering commitment to curbing the proliferation of illegal drugs and ensuring the safety and security of communities. The PNP and its partner agencies continue to intensify their campaign against illegal drug activities to protect the well-being of the Filipino people.
Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement in the illegal drug trade and to identify potential accomplices.
