MALAPATAN, SARANGANI PROVINCE — A joint law enforcement operation by CIDG Region 12 Sarangani PFU, Malapatan Municipal Police Station, 1st PMFC SPPO, and RID 12 resulted in the arrest of four individuals for violating R.A. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in Sitio Lamliing, Barangay Tuyan, Malapatan, on November 29, 2024.
The operation aimed to serve an arrest warrant against a wanted individual known as alias “Waca,” who faces charges of Murder under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC). The warrant, issued by RTC 11th Judicial Region Branch 48 in Alabel, Sarangani Province on March 9, 2018, had no bail recommended.
Upon arrival at the target’s residence, operatives spotted alias “Waca” conversing with several individuals at a shanty near his house. When the police approached, alias “Waca” fired at them, prompting the officers to take cover. His companions, however, surrendered without resistance. Despite efforts to apprehend him, alias “Waca” managed to escape.
Clearing operations led to the recovery of multiple homemade shotguns and ammunition from four individuals, identified as:
- Alias Ando – Possession of a homemade shotgun without a serial number.
- Alias Aque – Possession of a homemade shotgun without a serial number.
- Alias Ian – Possession of a homemade shotgun without a serial number.
- Alias Eroy – Possession of a homemade shotgun without a serial number.
Additionally, another shotgun and 17 rounds of 12-gauge live ammunition were recovered.
The arrested suspects, along with the confiscated evidence, were transported to the CIDG Sarangani Office for inventory, documentation, and disposition. Cases for violation of Section 28 of R.A. 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms) and Direct Assault are being prepared for inquest proceedings against the suspects.
Authorities continue their pursuit of alias “Waca” and are committed to upholding the rule of law in the region.
