MINDANAO, Philippines — Several parts of Mindanao, particularly the Caraga Region and Davao Oriental, are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms on Saturday, November 7, as the Easterlies continue to influence weather conditions across the island, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 5:00 a.m. regional weather forecast issued on November 7, PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) warned that moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall over Caraga and Davao Oriental could trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in communities situated near rivers, waterways, steep slopes and other hazard-prone areas.
The rest of Mindanao, meanwhile, will generally experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, also due to the Easterlies. Although rainfall is expected to be less widespread in these areas, PAGASA cautioned that severe thunderstorms could still result in flash floods or landslides.
Caraga and Davao Oriental face increased rainfall risks
Among Mindanao’s regions, Caraga is expected to experience more persistent rainfall, with cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms forecast across its provinces.
Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur are expected to experience cloudy conditions accompanied by rainshowers and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 32°C in Agusan del Norte and 24°C to 31°C in Agusan del Sur during the initial forecast period.
Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands will likewise experience cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms. Temperatures are forecast at 25°C to 30°C in Surigao del Sur and 26°C to 32°C in Dinagat Islands.
In Surigao del Norte, partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected during the early forecast period, before conditions become cloudier with rainshowers and thunderstorms in the succeeding period. Temperatures are expected to range from 26°C to 30°C initially and 26°C to 32°C afterward.
Davao Oriental is also expected to experience cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 22°C to 30°C during the first forecast period and 22°C to 32°C in the succeeding period.
The forecast indicates that these areas should prepare for possible periods of moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly when thunderstorms develop.
Generally isolated rainshowers across the rest of Mindanao
Outside Caraga and Davao Oriental, most provinces in Mindanao are forecast to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
In the Davao Region, Metro Davao, Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur are expected to have partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy conditions with rainshowers or thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from 25°C to 32°C in Metro Davao, 25°C to 32°C in Davao del Norte and 23°C to 32°C in Davao del Sur.
Davao Occidental will have temperatures ranging from 24°C to 33°C, while Davao de Oro is expected to experience cooler conditions, with temperatures between 22°C and 29°C.
Across Northern Mindanao, Bukidnon will have temperatures ranging from 19°C to 31°C, making it among the cooler areas in the forecast. Camiguin is expected to experience temperatures of 26°C to 32°C, while Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental will have temperatures of 25°C to 30°C. Misamis Oriental will have temperatures ranging from 24°C to 30°C.
The Zamboanga Peninsula will also experience partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy skies, with possible rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Zamboanga City and Zamboanga del Sur are expected to record temperatures of 24°C to 32°C, while Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay will have temperatures ranging from 25°C to 31°C and 25°C to 32°C, respectively. Isabela City is forecast to have temperatures between 26°C and 32°C.
In SOCCSKSARGEN, North Cotabato will have temperatures ranging from 23°C to 31°C, South Cotabato from 20°C to 28°C, Sultan Kudarat from 23°C to 31°C, and Sarangani from 25°C to 33°C.
BARMM provinces to experience isolated thunderstorms
The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will generally experience partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy skies, with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the Easterlies.
Cotabato City is forecast to have temperatures ranging from 23°C to 32°C, while Basilan will experience temperatures of 24°C to 31°C.
Lanao del Sur is expected to have cooler conditions, with temperatures ranging from 23°C to 29°C. Meanwhile, Sulu will record temperatures between 25°C and 33°C, and Tawi-Tawi between 27°C and 31°C.
In the provinces of Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur, temperatures are expected to reach 34°C during the initial forecast period, with maximum temperatures potentially rising to 36°C in the succeeding period.
Despite generally fairer conditions compared with Caraga, localized thunderstorms could still bring sudden heavy downpours, making flood-prone communities vulnerable to localized flooding.
Northeast winds and moderate coastal conditions
PAGASA also reported that light to moderate winds from the northeast will prevail across Mindanao throughout the forecast period.
Coastal waters are expected to remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
While these conditions are generally less adverse than those associated with strong winds and rough seas, fishing communities, small fishing vessels and other sea travelers are advised to remain attentive to changing weather conditions, particularly during thunderstorms.
Residents urged to remain alert
With the possibility of scattered rainfall over Caraga and Davao Oriental and isolated thunderstorms elsewhere, residents are advised to monitor local weather developments and follow advisories from PAGASA, local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and other concerned authorities.
Communities near rivers, creeks and other waterways should remain alert for sudden increases in water levels, while residents in landslide-prone areas should watch for warning signs such as ground cracks, unusual water seepage and soil movement.
Motorists and commuters should also exercise caution during heavy downpours, as reduced visibility, slippery roads and localized flooding could affect travel.
The forecast covers the period from 5:00 a.m. on November 7 until 5:00 a.m. on November 8, 2026.
