BUTUAN CITY — Two men were arrested after a police-led anti-drug buy-bust operation in Purok 7, Barangay Banza, Butuan City, resulted in the seizure of approximately 21.4 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard value of ₱145,520, along with assorted drug paraphernalia.

The operation was conducted at around 11:03 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, targeting two alleged drug personalities identified by their aliases, Bosing, 32, and Banny, 21. Both suspects are unmarried and residents of the area where the operation took place.
The joint operation involved personnel from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 13 (RPDEU-13), the drug enforcement unit of Butuan City Police Station 1, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Caraga.
Authorities said the operation led to the arrest of both suspects and the recovery of suspected illegal drugs and other items believed to be associated with the alleged drug activity.
Aside from the suspected shabu, operatives seized a genuine ₱1,000 bill used as buy-bust money, a plastic container with a blue cover, a digital weighing scale, a cellular phone, and various drug paraphernalia.
The weighing scale and other recovered items may form part of the evidence to be documented and examined by authorities as they process the case against the suspects.
Following their arrest, the two men and the confiscated items were placed under the custody of RPDEU-13 for proper documentation, processing, and disposition.
The operation forms part of the continuing efforts of law enforcement agencies to address the illegal drug trade in Butuan City and the wider Caraga Region.
However, the arrest of the suspects does not by itself establish guilt. The allegations must be tested through the appropriate legal proceedings, and both individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a competent court.
The case also underscores the importance of sustained, intelligence-driven anti-drug operations, supported by proper evidence handling and respect for due process, to ensure that law enforcement efforts lead to accountable and lawful prosecution.
