A 27-year-old man was arrested after police seized approximately 12 grams of suspected shabu and a 9mm pistol with ammunition during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Tagpangi, Cagayan de Oro City, early Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Police identified the suspect only by his alias “Boy,” a resident of Barangay Tagpangi. Authorities said the operation was carried out at the suspect’s residence following the issuance of a search warrant by the Regional Trial Court Branch 17 in Cagayan de Oro City.
Recovered during the search were two sachets containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, weighing approximately 12 grams. Police estimated the seized illegal drugs to have a street value of around ₱81,600.
Also confiscated from the residence was a 9mm pistol, together with its magazine and eight rounds of ammunition. The seizure of the firearm and ammunition is expected to form part of the evidence being processed by investigators as authorities determine the appropriate charges against the suspect.
The operation was led by the Tracker Team of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office–City Intelligence Unit (COCPO-CIU), with personnel from Police Station 8 providing support.
Police said the search was conducted in accordance with the court-issued warrant and that the confiscated items were secured for proper documentation and examination.
The suspect is now under the custody of the CIU-COCPO for investigation and appropriate legal disposition. Authorities are expected to determine the specific charges based on the results of the examination of the seized substances, firearm and ammunition.
The operation highlights the continuing police campaign against the illegal drug trade and the unlawful possession of firearms in Cagayan de Oro City, particularly through intelligence-driven operations supported by judicially issued search warrants.
