TUPI, SOUTH COTABATO — A 28-year-old man escaped injury after he was allegedly shot by a 43-year-old man along a barangay road in Purok 9-A, Barangay Poblacion, Tupi, South Cotabato, on Thursday evening, September 24, 2026.
According to the Tupi Municipal Police Station, the shooting occurred at around 8:10 p.m. when the victim had reportedly parked the motorcycle he was driving in the area.
Police said the suspect allegedly approached the victim, drew a short firearm and fired at him. Despite the reported gunfire, the victim was not hit and sustained no injuries.
The incident was reported to police at around 8:15 p.m. after a concerned citizen alerted authorities. Personnel of the Tupi MPS immediately responded to the area to verify the report and locate the alleged gunman.
Police subsequently arrested the 43-year-old suspect at around 8:25 p.m., or approximately 10 minutes after the incident was reported.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the two men, in line with the ongoing investigation.
The motive for the shooting remains undetermined, according to police. It was also not immediately clear from the initial police report whether the firearm allegedly used in the incident had been recovered.
Investigators are continuing to establish the circumstances that led to the shooting and determine whether there were other factors or individuals involved.
The suspect is expected to face appropriate charges based on the findings of the police investigation and the evidence gathered in connection with the incident.
