CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — Police operatives arrested a suspected high-value individual (HVI) and seized approximately 119.40 grams of suspected shabu, along with a caliber .38 handgun, two cartridges, and a hand grenade, during a joint anti-drug operation in Cagayan de Oro City on September 22, 2026.
The confiscated suspected shabu was placed at an estimated street value of ₱811,920, according to the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO).
The operation was conducted at around 4:53 p.m. in Pasil, Barangay Kauswagan, by personnel of the City Drugs Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 10 (PDEA-10).
The operation was carried out under Pre-Operations No. 11-00-09222026-020 and was conducted under the supervision of Police Major Aldren E. Baculio, Chief of the CDEU, and the leadership of Police Colonel Dexter G. Paje, City Director of COCPO.
Police said the operation resulted in the arrest of one individual classified as a high-value individual in the illegal drug trade.
Aside from the suspected shabu, authorities reported recovering one caliber .38 firearm loaded with two cartridges and one hand grenade during the operation.
The seizure of both suspected illegal drugs and firearms adds another layer to the police investigation, as authorities determine the circumstances surrounding the possession and alleged involvement of the arrested individual in the illegal drug trade.
The 119.40 grams of suspected shabu will be subjected to the appropriate examination and disposition procedures, while the seized firearm, ammunition and explosive device are expected to form part of the evidence in the case.
Police operations involving high-value drug targets are generally conducted with coordination among law enforcement agencies to document the transaction and secure evidence for the filing of appropriate charges.
Authorities have not released additional details identifying the arrested suspect, including the person’s name and other personal information.
The case remains under investigation, and the arrested individual will face the appropriate legal proceedings based on the evidence gathered during the operation.
COCPO and its partner agencies continue to conduct anti-illegal drug operations as part of efforts to disrupt the distribution of prohibited substances in Cagayan de Oro City.
