ZAMBOANGA CITY — Authorities arrested a 49-year-old man identified only by the alias “Nakurah” and seized approximately one kilogram of suspected shabu during a major anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Sinunuc, Zamboanga City, on Sunday night, September 20, 2026.
The operation was carried out at around 9 p.m. along Purok 1, Bypass Road, Barangay Sinunuc, by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 9 (RDEU-9), in coordination with other law enforcement units.
Authorities identified the suspect as “Nakurah,” 49, reportedly a resident of HB Homes in the same barangay. He was described by law enforcement as a high-value individual (HVI) in the illegal drug trade.
The operation resulted in the confiscation of approximately one kilogram of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱6.8 million, according to the initial information released by authorities.
The seizure represents a significant disruption to the alleged local drug supply, given the quantity and estimated value of the substance recovered during the operation.
The confiscated material was secured by authorities and is expected to undergo the required laboratory examination to determine its actual composition. The suspect is also expected to face appropriate charges under the country’s Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, subject to the findings of investigators and prosecutors.
Authorities have continued to intensify anti-drug operations across Zamboanga Peninsula, particularly against individuals allegedly involved in the distribution and trafficking of illegal drugs.
The arrest and seizure form part of continuing law-enforcement efforts to identify and dismantle drug networks operating in communities across the region.
The suspect remains in police custody while authorities process the seized evidence and prepare the necessary documentation for the filing of charges.
Authorities reiterated that the operation is part of their continuing campaign against illegal drugs and called on residents to report information that could help law enforcement identify and disrupt drug activities in their communities.
The suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
