A 29-year-old woman was shot several times by two unidentified assailants in Barangay Bulanit, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, on Saturday evening, September 19, 2026, prompting an ongoing police investigation to determine the identity and motive of the attackers.

According to the initial report from authorities, the shooting occurred at around 6:36 p.m. as the victim was traveling home on a motorcycle after coming from Pagadian City.
Police said the woman was allegedly being followed by two men riding together on a motorcycle. As they approached the victim, the back rider reportedly opened fire several times at her before the suspects sped away.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds and was immediately brought to Manupac Doctor’s Hospital in Barangay New Labangan for emergency medical treatment. Authorities have not released further details regarding the extent of her injuries or her current condition.
After the shooting, the suspects reportedly fled aboard the motorcycle toward Pagadian City.
Police investigators are now conducting follow-up operations to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify the persons responsible. Authorities are also conducting CCTV backtracking in the area and along possible escape routes in an effort to trace the suspects before, during and after the shooting.
The identities of the suspects and the motive behind the attack have yet to be established. Police have not publicly confirmed whether the incident was targeted or connected to any other reported criminal activity.
Authorities are expected to continue gathering witness accounts and other evidence as the investigation progresses.
