ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A man was shot dead inside a motel room in Barangay Guiwan, Zamboanga City, on the night of September 15, 2026, prompting authorities to secure the area and launch an investigation into the fatal shooting.

The victim was identified by authorities as Jonel Bernardo, reportedly a resident of Cabato Road. Initial information indicated that Bernardo was inside a motel in the Tumaga area when he was shot.

Authorities later covered the victim’s body inside the room as police personnel secured the crime scene and proceeded with the necessary investigation and processing.
