GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Police operations in General Santos City resulted in the recovery of firearms, ammunition, and suspected illegal drugs in two separate search warrant implementations conducted in Barangay Tambler on September 4 and September 6, 2026.
The first operation was carried out at about 9:27 p.m. on September 4 in Purok Maunlad, Barangay Tambler, by personnel of Police Station 5 of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO), in coordination with the GSCPO SWAT and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group? The operation stemmed from a search warrant issued for an alleged violation of Article V, Section 28 of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, covering the unlawful acquisition or possession of firearms and ammunition.
Police recovered a caliber .38 revolver, three live ammunition, and a sachet containing suspected shabu during the search.
Authorities also seized one glass tooter with traces of suspected shabu, two pairs of scissors, and two sling bags.
The suspected shabu weighed approximately 0.12 grams and was estimated by authorities to have a street value of ₱816.
The recovered items were taken into police custody for proper documentation and disposition, with the suspected illegal drugs subject to appropriate examination and processing in accordance with established procedures.
Regional police officials emphasized that the operation was part of continuing efforts to address the proliferation of illegal firearms and illegal drugs in communities across Region 12.
“Ang bawat matagumpay na search warrant ay bunga ng maingat na operasyon at pagsunod sa tamang proseso. Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating mga hakbang laban sa ilegal na armas at droga upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan at seguridad ng ating mga komunidad,” said PBGen Alan B. Manibog, Regional Director of the Police Regional Office 12.
Second Operation Nets Another .38 Revolver, Six Ammunition
A separate search warrant operation was conducted by Police Station 5 personnel, together with the GSCPO SWAT and CIT Gensan-RIU 12, at about 5:02 a.m. on September 6 in Purok Bio, Barangay Tambler.
The operation targeted the residence of alias “Tubig,” 51, married, and a driver, who is a resident of the area.
Police served the search warrant in connection with the alleged violation of Article V, Section 28 of Republic Act No. 10591, specifically concerning the unlawful acquisition or possession of firearms and ammunition.
During the search, authorities recovered another caliber .38 revolver and six live ammunition.
Police also found a green lighter, a glass pipe or tooter with traces of suspected shabu, and a gray sling bag.
Authorities said the seized evidence was properly marked, inventoried, and photographed in the presence of the required witnesses before being turned over to the Investigator-on-Case for appropriate disposition.
The recovered firearm and ammunition are expected to undergo ballistic examination, while the suspected drug-related items will be subjected to laboratory examination to determine their nature and evidentiary value.
The two operations underscore the continuing police campaign in General Santos City against the possession of unregistered or illegally acquired firearms and the presence of prohibited drugs in local communities.
Police said the implementation of search warrants is being carried out with emphasis on proper procedures, evidence handling, and coordination among participating units to ensure that seized items can be properly accounted for and used in subsequent legal proceedings.
The cases arising from the operations remain subject to investigation and appropriate legal action.
