MANAY, Davao Oriental — Authorities are conducting an intensive investigation following the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man who was gunned down while riding his motorcycle in Barangay Holy Cross, Manay, Davao Oriental, on the morning of July 13, 2026.

The victim was identified as Leoneboy Sumbadon Linogan, 34, a resident of Purok Pagduyanan, Barangay Holy Cross, Manay.

According to the Manay Municipal Police Station, the shooting occurred in Purok Paspason, Barangay Holy Cross, where the victim was reportedly ambushed by an unidentified gunman while traveling on his motorcycle.

Police Major Cabigas said investigators are still determining the motive behind the killing and are pursuing all possible leads to identify and arrest the suspect.

Initial police findings indicate that the assailant used a caliber .45 pistol. Crime scene investigators recovered four spent shell casings believed to have come from the firearm used in the attack. The recovered evidence has been submitted for forensic examination to aid in the investigation.

Witnesses told authorities that Linogan had reportedly just finished bringing a student before the shooting took place. However, investigators have yet to establish whether this information has any connection to the crime.

Video footage taken shortly after the incident showed the victim lying motionless beside his motorcycle as responders and residents gathered at the scene.

As of this writing, the identity of the gunman remains unknown, and no arrests have been made.

Police investigators continue to collect physical evidence, review witness statements, and gather additional information that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the killing. Authorities have also appealed to the public to cooperate by providing any information that may lead to the identification and arrest of the perpetrator.

The motive behind the fatal shooting has yet to be determined, and the investigation remains ongoing.
