GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Police authorities seized suspected shabu worth nearly ₱120,000, an MK2 hand fragmentation grenade, and various drug paraphernalia during the implementation of search warrants in Barangay Tambler, General Santos City on July 11, 2026, resulting in the arrest of four individuals.

The anti-drug operation stemmed from the implementation of Search Warrants for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Republic Act No. 9516, which penalizes the illegal possession and manufacture of explosives.

Authorities confiscated a total of 17.62 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱119,816.00, along with an MK2 hand fragmentation grenade, raising concerns over the presence of both illegal drugs and explosives inside the target residence.

The operation was jointly carried out by personnel from Police Station 5 of the General Santos City Police Office, the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), City Intelligence Team (CIT) Gensan-RIU 12, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 12–SarGen, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of General Santos City.

During the implementation of the search warrants, police reportedly caught three individuals allegedly in the act of using illegal drugs inside the residence. They were immediately arrested together with the subject of the search warrants.

In addition to the suspected shabu and explosive device, authorities also recovered various drug paraphernalia, which will serve as additional evidence in the case.

All arrested individuals were informed of their constitutional rights in accordance with legal procedures. Meanwhile, the confiscated illegal drugs, grenade, and other recovered items have been submitted for laboratory examination to support the filing of appropriate criminal charges.

Police investigators are now preparing cases against the suspects for violations of the country’s anti-illegal drugs law and explosives law.

The recovery of a live fragmentation grenade alongside illegal narcotics underscores the potential dangers posed by criminal elements operating within residential communities and highlights the risks faced by law enforcement personnel during anti-drug operations.

Police Reaffirm Commitment Against Drugs and Illegal Weapons

Following the successful operation, Police Brigadier General Alan B. Manibog, Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 12 (PRO-12), emphasized the police organization’s unwavering commitment to dismantling illegal drug operations and eliminating threats to public safety.

“Hindi natin hahayaan na maging pugad ng kriminalidad ang anumang komunidad. Ang bawat matagumpay na operasyon ay patunay ng ating matatag na paninindigan laban sa ilegal na droga at iligal na armas. Magpapatuloy ang PRO 12 sa pagpapatupad ng batas upang mapanatiling ligtas at mapayapa ang ating mga pamayanan,” Manibog said.

PRO-12 said it will continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations, strengthen coordination with partner law enforcement agencies, and aggressively pursue individuals involved in illegal drugs, illegal firearms, and explosives as part of its sustained campaign to maintain peace, order, and public security across Region 12.
