LINAMON, Lanao del Norte — A 21-year-old man was arrested after allegedly secretly taking photos and videos of two women while they were bathing and performing private activities inside a bathroom, authorities said.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Ting,” is unemployed and a resident of Barangay Samburon, Linamon, Lanao del Norte. He was apprehended on July 4, 2026, following complaints filed against him for allegedly violating Republic Act No. 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.

According to the initial police investigation, the suspect allegedly used a device to secretly capture images and videos of the two female victims without their knowledge or consent while they were inside a bathroom. The victims reportedly discovered the incident and immediately sought assistance from authorities, prompting a swift police response that led to the suspect’s arrest.

The Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Linamon Municipal Police Station is currently preparing the necessary documents for the filing of appropriate criminal charges against the suspect.

Under Republic Act No. 9995, it is unlawful to take, copy, reproduce, share, or publish photos or videos of a person engaged in private acts or exposing intimate body parts without that person’s consent. Violators may face imprisonment, fines, or both upon conviction.

Police emphasized that incidents involving voyeurism and other forms of privacy violations are serious offenses that inflict emotional and psychological harm on victims.

Authorities also reminded the public to respect the privacy, dignity, and personal rights of others, especially in private spaces. They urged anyone who experiences or witnesses acts of harassment, voyeurism, or other forms of abuse to immediately report the incident to the nearest police station so that appropriate legal action can be taken and victims can receive protection.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather additional evidence in support of the case.
