PANGANTUCAN, Bukidnon – A 37-year-old man was arrested after allegedly hacking another man who reportedly attempted to assault his wife during a heated confrontation late Sunday night in Barangay Malipayon, Pangantucan, Bukidnon.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Ceasar,” was taken into custody by local authorities following the incident that occurred at around 11:00 p.m. on June 14, 2026.
According to an initial police report, the incident began when the suspect’s wife was fetching water from a faucet near their residence. At that moment, the victim, identified as alias “Ruben,” 37, allegedly approached her while reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities said the victim engaged the woman in conversation, which eventually escalated into a heated argument. The confrontation intensified when the victim allegedly attempted to slap the suspect’s wife in the face.
In an apparent effort to protect his spouse, Ceasar reportedly intervened in the altercation. Investigators said the suspect then armed himself with a bladed weapon and attacked Ruben, inflicting hack wounds on the left side of his back, left arm, and hands.
The injured victim was immediately rushed to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Kibawe for emergency medical treatment. Authorities have yet to release information regarding his current condition.
Following the incident, members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT), together with the Barangay Captain, quickly responded and successfully apprehended the suspect.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Pangantucan Municipal Police Station while authorities prepare the necessary documents for the filing of appropriate criminal charges.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the events that led to the violent confrontation.
The case highlights how domestic disputes and alcohol-related altercations can rapidly escalate into serious acts of violence, resulting in injuries and criminal liability for those involved.
