Polomolok — A 46-year-old cellphone technician was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen inside his repair shop on Thursday evening, May 7, in Barangay Upper Klinan, alarming residents and prompting an intensified manhunt operation by local police authorities.

The victim was identified by the Polomolok Municipal Police Station as George Domingo, a resident of the municipality and owner of “Angkols Cellphone and Laptop Repair Shop” located in Purok Malipayon.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Roel V. Abejero, the attack occurred at around 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. when one of the suspects allegedly entered the victim’s mini shop and suddenly opened fire at close range.

Witnesses reported hearing at least four gunshots that shattered the quiet evening in the community. Investigators said the assailants allegedly fled the area after the initial attack but later returned and fired several more shots at the victim, apparently to ensure his death.

Domingo sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including injuries to his back and other parts of his body, resulting in his immediate death at the scene.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the killing, but police described the incident as a “senseless act of violence” as investigators continue to gather evidence and identify the perpetrators.

In an official statement, the Polomolok police said intensive investigation and follow-up operations are already underway. Hot pursuit operations, checkpoint operations, and chokepoint control measures have also been activated in an effort to track down and immediately arrest the suspects involved.

“We strongly condemn this senseless act of violence and assure the public that all necessary efforts are being exerted to resolve the case at the soonest possible time,” the police statement read.

Police authorities also appealed to the public, especially possible witnesses, to cooperate with investigators and provide any information that could help speed up the resolution of the case.

Meanwhile, residents were urged to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information on social media while the investigation is ongoing.

The brutal killing has raised concern among residents and business owners in the area, particularly as the attack happened inside the victim’s own workplace, where he reportedly earned a living repairing mobile phones and laptops for local customers.

As of this writing, no suspects have been arrested, and authorities continue to pursue all possible leads surrounding the fatal shooting incident.
