ILIGAN CITY — Authorities arrested a repeat drug offender during a late-night operation on April 25, 2026, seizing more than ₱1.2 million worth of suspected shabu inside his residence, in what police described as a significant blow to the illegal drug trade in the area.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Amay,” was apprehended after operatives of the Philippine National Police served a search warrant at his home in Purok 4, Barangay Saray at around 9:20 p.m.

Recovered during the operation were approximately 180 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱1,224,000. Authorities said the volume of illegal drugs confiscated indicates ongoing distribution activities within the community.

Despite the evidence, the suspect denied ownership of the seized narcotics.

Police investigations, however, revealed that “Amay” is not new to drug-related offenses. Records show he was previously arrested and convicted in November 2014 for selling illegal drugs. He served a six-year prison sentence before his release.

The suspect is currently detained at Police Station 5 while authorities prepare to file charges against him for violating Republic Act 9165.

Law enforcement officials stressed that the operation underscores their intensified campaign against illegal drugs, particularly targeting repeat offenders. They reiterated their commitment to dismantling drug networks and ensuring the safety and security of communities in Iligan City.

“We will continue to pursue those who persist in engaging in illegal drug activities, especially those who have previously faced the law but choose to return to crime,” an official said.

Authorities also called on the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities, as part of a broader effort to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region.
