ILIGAN CITY — Authorities successfully arrested two individuals involved in the illegal sale of firearms during a buy-bust operation conducted on the afternoon of April 16, 2026, in Barangay Pala-o.

The operation, led by personnel of the Iligan City Mobile Force Company (ICMFC), resulted in the apprehension of a suspect identified only by the alias “Paul,” after he allegedly sold a .45 caliber pistol to an undercover operative for P40,000.
Confiscated from the suspect were the firearm, a steel magazine, and three rounds of ammunition. Authorities immediately secured the evidence following the entrapment operation, which took place at around 1:20 p.m. in the Riverside area of the barangay.
A second suspect, identified by the alias “Joel,” who was reportedly accompanying “Paul” during the illegal transaction, was also arrested at the scene.
Both suspects are currently detained at Police Station 5 in Iligan City, where they are undergoing documentation and case preparation. They are expected to face charges for violating Republic Act No. 10591, which penalizes the unlawful possession, manufacture, and sale of firearms and ammunition in the Philippines.
Authorities emphasized that the successful operation underscores the continuing efforts of law enforcement to curb the proliferation of loose firearms, which remain a major concern in maintaining peace and order in urban communities.
Police officials also reiterated their call for public cooperation, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities related to illegal firearms and other criminal acts in their communities.
