MANOLO FORTICH, Bukidnon — A 47-year-old man was killed after sustaining multiple hack wounds in a violent attack Saturday evening, April 18, 2026, in a residential area of Purok Pine Tree, Barangay Agusan Canyon.

The victim, identified only as alias “Tonyo,” was found sprawled on the ground and soaked in his own blood after being repeatedly struck with a bladed weapon. Authorities identified the suspect as alias “Ceasar,” 43, a resident of the same area.
Initial police investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect had a longstanding dispute. Prior to the incident, the victim had allegedly been threatening to kill the suspect whenever they would encounter each other along a narrow alleyway they both used on their way home.
On the night of the attack, the suspect had just returned from work and was resting on the balcony of his house when the victim reportedly passed by and again issued a death threat. This reportedly triggered the suspect, who then grabbed a bladed weapon and attacked the victim, inflicting multiple fatal wounds.
The said victim was immediately rushed to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital Annex in Barangay San Miguel, Manolo Fortich. However, attending physicians declared him dead on arrival due to the severity of his injuries.
Following the incident, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to responding barangay tanods. He is now under police custody and detained at the lock-up facility of the Manolo Fortich Municipal Police Station.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the killing, including the extent of the prior conflict between the two men and whether charges of homicide or murder will be filed against the suspect.
