ZAMBOANGA CITY — A quiet early morning turned deadly after a Lebanese national and his wife were shot by an unidentified gunman inside their business establishment along Pilar Street corner Sevilla Street, near Southern City Colleges, at around 5:00 a.m. on April 10, 2026.

Authorities identified the victims as Fahed Hamdan, a Lebanese national, and his wife, Anora Hamdan, who were reportedly inside their printing shop and internet café when the attack occurred. Initial police reports revealed that the suspect suddenly opened fire on the couple at close range, triggering a brief struggle between Hamdan and the assailant.

Investigators believe that Fahed Hamdan attempted to fight back during the incident, indicating a possible attempt to resist the attack. Despite his efforts, both he and his wife sustained gunshot wounds. Anora Hamdan was declared dead on the spot, while her husband was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Crime scene investigators recovered a .45 caliber pistol believed to have been used in the shooting, along with a helmet left behind by the suspect—potentially a crucial piece of evidence that may help identify the assailant. Authorities are currently verifying whether the firearm belongs to the suspect or was used during the confrontation.

Police Captain Roy Cordero of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) Station 11 confirmed that an intensive investigation is underway. “We are backtracking CCTV footage in the area and pursuing all possible leads to identify and apprehend the suspect,” Cordero said.

The motive behind the brazen attack remains unclear, but investigators are exploring multiple angles, including possible business-related disputes or personal motives. The incident has raised alarm among residents and business owners in the area, as the shooting occurred in a populated commercial zone.

Responding police units quickly secured the crime scene, while forensic teams gathered evidence that could shed light on the identity of the gunman. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their manhunt.

The killing of the Hamdan couple underscores the persistent threat of gun violence, even in broad daylight business settings, leaving a community shaken and demanding swift justice.
