CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Intensified anti-illegal drug operations in Northern Mindanao have led to the arrest of two drug personalities and the seizure of nearly ₱900,000 worth of suspected shabu and firearms in separate operations conducted by the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) on March 24 and 25, 2026.

Authorities identified one of the arrested suspects as a High-Value Individual (HVI), underscoring the continued push of law enforcement to dismantle drug networks operating in urban and nearby areas.

High-Value Target Falls in Cagayan de Oro

In Cagayan de Oro City, operatives from the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, in coordination with the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), carried out a buy-bust operation at around 7:53 p.m. on March 24 along 9th Street in Barangay Nazareth.

The operation resulted in the arrest of alias “Ian,” 21, a resident of Barangay Balulang, who is listed as a High-Value Individual.

Seized from his possession were six sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, weighing approximately 72 grams and valued at ₱489,600 based on the standard drug price. Police also recovered a caliber .357 revolver loaded with three rounds of ammunition, along with drug paraphernalia believed to be used in illegal drug activities.

Street-Level Pusher Busted in Misamis Oriental

In a separate early morning operation on March 25, joint operatives from the Tagoloan Municipal Police Station of the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office (MORPPO) and the 1001st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB-10) conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.

Arrested was alias “Plong-plong,” 33, a jobless resident of the area, who is categorized as a Street-Level Individual (SLI).

Authorities confiscated five sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 60 grams with an estimated value of ₱408,000. Also recovered were a .357 caliber revolver (Sturm Ruger) without a serial number, assorted ammunition, a weighing scale, and other items linked to illegal drug distribution.

Police said the suspect had long been monitored and was allegedly known in the community for selling illegal drugs, describing him as a key figure in the local drug trade. This marked his first recorded arrest.

Charges and Commendation

Both suspects are now under police custody—alias “Ian” with the CDEU of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, and alias “Plong-plong” with the Tagoloan Municipal Police Station—for proper disposition.

Authorities are preparing charges against the suspects for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as well as Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

PRO-10 Regional Director PBGen. Christopher N. Abrahano lauded the operating units for the successful operations, emphasizing that sustained law enforcement efforts remain crucial in curbing the proliferation of illegal drugs and ensuring community safety across Northern Mindanao.

“These accomplishments reflect the dedication and coordination of our units on the ground. We will continue to intensify our operations to dismantle drug networks and protect our communities,” Abrahano said.

The latest operations highlight PRO-10’s continuing campaign against illegal drugs, targeting both high-value and street-level personalities in a bid to disrupt supply chains and reduce the availability of narcotics in the region.
