Police authorities in Koronadal City arrested a 40-year-old suspect, identified as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, after he was accused of raping a 16-year-old boy in Barangay Avanceña early Saturday morning.

According to police reports, the victim disclosed the assault to his parents shortly after the incident. The parents immediately reported the matter to the Koronadal City Police, who responded swiftly and arrested the suspect later that morning. Officers confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody without resistance.
The suspect is currently detained at the Koronadal City Police Station Locked-Up Cell. Authorities stated that the victim’s family is determined to pursue legal charges, and a formal case of rape will be filed under Philippine law, which strictly protects minors against sexual exploitation and abuse.
