A 23-year-old man was seriously injured after he was allegedly stabbed by his own father while trying to stop a heated family dispute on the evening of March 2 in Sitio Manubiray, Barangay Lampanusan, Kalilangan, Bukidnon.

The victim, identified only as alias “Darwin,” was immediately rushed to a hospital after sustaining a stab wound on the right side of his rib during the incident that occurred inside their residence at around 8:00 p.m.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Elias,” 52, the victim’s father, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack.
According to the initial investigation, the suspect was engaged in a heated argument with his wife inside their home. As the confrontation escalated, the victim attempted to intervene and calm his parents in hopes of preventing the situation from worsening.
However, instead of de-escalating the argument, the suspect allegedly grabbed a bladed weapon and suddenly stabbed his son, hitting the right side of the victim’s rib.
The stabbing shocked nearby family members and residents, prompting immediate calls for help.
The injured victim was quickly transported using a Patient Transport Vehicle to Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Kalilangan for urgent medical treatment. Authorities said the victim survived the attack but sustained serious injuries.
Responding police officers were able to quickly arrest the suspect at the scene. He was subsequently taken into custody and brought to the Kalilangan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges.
Investigators said the incident stemmed from a domestic misunderstanding aggravated by alcohol.
Authorities are continuing their investigation while preparing criminal charges against the suspect.
The violent altercation shattered what was supposed to be a peaceful evening for the family in Purok 7, Sitio Manubiray, highlighting the tragic consequences of domestic conflict fueled by alcohol.
