CAMP SANG-AN, Zamboanga del Sur — A joint law enforcement operation led by the Bureau of Immigration and the Philippine National Police, with support from units of the Philippine Army under Joint Task Force ZAMPELAN/1ID, resulted in the arrest of two Chinese nationals accused of violating Philippine immigration laws in Barangay Mahayahay, Iligan City on March 4, 2026.

Authorities identified the suspects as XU, BaoGui, also known as Stanny Co., 51, and CAI, Lizun, also known as Mia Co., 50. Both were arrested for alleged violations of their visa conditions under Section 37(a)(9) in relation to Section 45(e) of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, as amended.
According to investigators, the two individuals had reportedly been residing in the country for nearly two decades while engaging in business activities that were not consistent with the conditions of their visas. Authorities said the operation was carried out through coordinated efforts between immigration officials, police operatives, and military units operating in the area.
Initial findings further revealed that the suspects allegedly used Filipino aliases in official documents. Records obtained during the investigation indicated that one of the individuals managed to secure a late-registered Filipino birth certificate and a Philippine driver’s license under an assumed Filipino identity. Both were also found to be in possession of driver’s licenses issued under their respective aliases, raising concerns over possible misrepresentation and fraudulent documentation.
The arrested foreign nationals were brought to the headquarters of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry (Magbalantay) Brigade at Camp Sultan Badrodin in Barangay Maria Cristina, Iligan City, for documentation and processing by Bureau of Immigration personnel.
Authorities said the suspects will be turned over to the Bureau of Immigration for further legal proceedings and appropriate action in accordance with existing immigration laws and procedures.
Officials noted that the successful operation underscores the continuing coordination among immigration authorities, the police, and military forces assigned under Joint Task Force ZAMPELAN/1ID. Law enforcement agencies reiterated their commitment to strictly enforce immigration regulations, strengthen public safety, and protect the country’s sovereignty.
