KIDAPAWAN CITY — Police authorities arrested a 49-year-old man after high-powered firearms and suspected drug-related items were recovered during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Sudapin, Kidapawan City on Friday, February 13.

The suspect was identified as Rogerio Bangoy, a resident of Purok 10, Barangay Sudapin. He was apprehended by operatives of the Philippine National Police following a court-authorized search of his residence.
According to police reports, authorities confiscated one unit of a modified 5.56 caliber carbine (Armalite rifle), two rounds of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and an airsoft gun during the operation.
The search was carried out by virtue of a warrant signed by Jose Tabosares, citing alleged violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, which penalizes the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Police officials said the operation was conducted in coordination with local authorities and followed standard procedures to ensure the safety of residents in the area. The warrant specifically targeted Bangoy’s house after reports and intelligence information pointed to the possible presence of unlicensed firearms.
Aside from the firearms and ammunition, investigators noted that the recovery of drug paraphernalia could indicate possible involvement in illegal drug activities, which may lead to additional charges after further investigation and laboratory examination.
Bangoy was immediately taken into police custody and brought to the local police station for documentation and inquest proceedings. The seized items were also turned over to the crime laboratory for ballistic and forensic examination.
Authorities emphasized that the operation forms part of the intensified campaign against loose firearms and illegal activities in the city, aimed at maintaining peace and order and preventing armed violence.
Police urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities in their communities, stressing that community support remains vital in sustaining public safety and security.
