CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Law enforcement agencies seized a total of 170 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱1.156 million in two separate buy-bust operations conducted Tuesday night, February 3, 2026, resulting in the arrest of two drug suspects, including a recently freed detainee and a high-value individual.

In the first operation, a male suspect was arrested around 7:37 p.m. in Zone 3, Pinikitan, Barangay Camaman-an by a joint team from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) Team 1, PDEA Region 10, RID 10, and PDEG 10. Authorities confiscated approximately 60 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱408,000.

Recovered from the suspect were one small sachet used as the buy-bust item, three small sachets, two large sachets of suspected shabu, a Redmi cellphone, and a ₱1,000 bill used as marked money. Police said the suspect had been out of jail for less than a month after his release from the Purok Malipayon Male Dormitory of the Lumbia Jail before being re-arrested for drug-related activities. He is currently detained at the Maharlika Detention Facility, while the seized drugs were sent to RFU-10 for laboratory examination.

Earlier that evening, at around 7:02 p.m., a separate buy-bust operation led to the arrest of a high-value individual known by the alias “Egan” inside a pension house in Upper Carmen. The operation was carried out by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, led by PMAJ Aldren Estrada Baculio, with support from the City Mobile Force Company and PDEA Region 10.

Authorities seized 110 grams of suspected shabu worth ₱748,000, along with buy-bust money, drug packaging materials, a digital weighing scale, a cellular phone, and a 9mm pistol with a magazine and three rounds of ammunition. The suspect is now under the custody of CDEU-COCPO for documentation and the filing of charges.

Both suspects are facing complaints for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, with additional charges for illegal possession of firearm to be filed against the second suspect. Police said the twin operations underscore intensified efforts to dismantle drug networks in the city and curb the resurgence of illegal drug activities.
