DATU HOFFER AMPATUAN, Maguindanao del Sur — Authorities are investigating the discovery of an unidentified woman’s body found Sunday afternoon in a grassy area of Sitio Tangkapan, Barangay Talibadok, raising strong suspicions of a violent killing.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), residents alerted authorities at around 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. on January 18 after a passerby spotted the lifeless body on the side of the grassland. Responding police officers confirmed that the victim was already dead upon arrival.
The woman was found with her hands and neck bound, indicating possible foul play. She was wearing gray pants and a white top. Initial police assessment describes the victim as approximately 20 to 30 years old, with short hair and a medium build.
Investigators said no identification card or personal documents were recovered at the scene, making it difficult to immediately establish her identity. Due to the condition and circumstances surrounding the body, authorities are treating the case as a suspected “salvage” or summary killing, pending further forensic examination.
Personnel from the Datu Hoffer Municipal Police Station secured the area and conducted a scene-of-the-crime operation, while a full investigation is now underway to determine the motive, identify possible suspects, and confirm the victim’s identity.
The PNP is appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone who has a missing female relative matching the description is urged to coordinate with the Datu Hoffer Municipal Police Station or the nearest police unit to help advance the investigation.
Police officials assured the public that they are exerting all efforts to resolve the case and bring those responsible to justice, as concerns grow over violent crimes in remote areas of the province.
