General Santos City – Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Mark Cecar Deocampo of Acacia Residencia, Barangay Labangal, General Santos City, which occurred at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday.
According to the victim’s live-in partner, who requested to be identified only as “Inday,” she was unaware of any conflict or enemy that might have targeted her partner prior to the incident. She said Deocampo had left their home to purchase something, but did not return. Around 5:00 a.m., police contacted her to inform that her partner had been shot.
Deocampo was immediately brought to Dr. Jorge Royeca Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Witnesses in the subdivision reported seeing the victim near a gate using his cellphone shortly before the shooting. Moments later, they heard a series of gunshots and discovered him lying on the ground. The shooter, reportedly riding a motorcycle, was not seen due to the darkness of the area.
Police Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered six cartridge cases from a .9mm pistol at the crime scene. Police Station 2 continues to investigate the motive and are reviewing possible leads to identify the suspect.
Authorities urge anyone with information about the shooting to come forward to assist in the investigation.
