SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao del Norte — A night of Christmas celebration turned into chaos after three men were shot while drinking in Sitio Torres, Barangay Limbo around 8:00 p.m., December 25, 2025.
According to Sultan Kudarat Municipal Police Station Chief PLtCol. Hector Tanio Jr., the victims were identified as:
- Renato Pastolero Besañes, 54
- Toto Jacosalin, 49
- Emboy Bagondang, 27
All are residents of Barangay Limbo and work as construction laborers. The victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies. They were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspects suddenly appeared and fired at the victims without warning. One of the gunmen was identified by the victims as a certain alias “Jayson”, while the identity of his companion remains under verification.
Responding police recovered several fired cartridge cases from the crime scene, though the caliber of the weapon used has yet to be determined.
Authorities have launched a hot pursuit operation against the two suspects, who fled after the shooting.
Police are now investigating the motive behind the attack, while assuring the public that the perpetrators will be held accountable.
This Christmas night assault adds to rising concerns over gun-related violence during the holiday season. Authorities urge the community to stay vigilant and immediately report suspicious activities.
