SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao del Norte — A 25-year-old service crew was wounded after being shot by still unidentified riding-in-tandem suspects Thursday evening, April 30, in Sitio Torres, Barangay Limbo, authorities confirmed.

The victim was identified as Abdulnasser Untong Gonsang, a married resident of the area who works in the service industry.

According to the initial investigation by the Sultan Kudarat Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred at around 7:05 p.m. while Gonsang was in the vicinity of a local store where a group of men were having a drinking session. Reports indicated that the victim had approached the group and asked to join them.

Moments later, two unidentified assailants arrived on a motorcycle and, without warning, opened fire on the victim before speeding away from the scene.

Police said Gonsang sustained gunshot wounds, including one in the head area, with some reports indicating injuries near the nape and ear. He was immediately rushed by family members and nearby residents to a hospital for emergency medical treatment. His condition as of writing remains under close monitoring.

In a separate account, authorities also noted that the victim may have been standing near a store or walking not far from his residence when the suspects approached and carried out the attack, underscoring inconsistencies that investigators are now working to clarify.

Personnel from the Sultan Kudarat Municipal Police Station, with assistance from Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), have conducted a crime scene investigation to gather evidence that could lead to the identification of the perpetrators.

Captain Steffi Salanguit, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), confirmed the shooting and said efforts are ongoing to determine both the identities of the suspects and the motive behind the attack.

As of this writing, no arrests have been made. Police continue to pursue leads and are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation progresses.
