ZAMBOANGA CITY — A shooting incident rooted in jealousy and a personal dispute erupted in Barangay Sta. Maria, Zamboanga City on Sunday morning, December 14, 2025, leaving a Philippine Air Force intelligence operative wounded and a police officer facing possible criminal charges.
The victim was identified as Staff Sergeant Roliver Pascual, 41, an operative of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Intelligence, who was shot at around 10:00 a.m. along Calle Montesino. Police said Pascual sustained a gunshot wound to the lower left chest, with the bullet exiting through his back. He was immediately rushed to a hospital and is now reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities identified the suspect as Police Patrolman Elshiemer Kamlian, a PNP Patrolman assigned to the 902nd Mobile Force Company in Sumisip, Basilan. The suspect later voluntarily surrendered to the Zamboanga City Police Office on Sunday night and turned over the service firearm allegedly used in the shooting.
Love Triangle Angle
Based on the initial investigation and the victim’s account, Pascual was on his way to report for duty at the Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB) when he noticed his wife’s vehicle—a gray Toyota Vios—parked in front of the suspect’s apartment along Montesino Drive.
Police said the victim decided to confront his wife, identified only as “Inday,” whom he allegedly found inside the apartment with the suspect. During the confrontation, the suspect reportedly went back inside the apartment, retrieved his service firearm, and shot the Air Force personnel.
Ongoing Investigation
A vehicle believed to be connected to the incident has been placed under police custody as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are treating the case as stemming from a personal conflict involving an alleged love triangle, though investigators stressed that all angles remain under verification.
The Zamboanga City Police Office continues to conduct a thorough investigation and case build-up. The suspect policeman is expected to face appropriate criminal and administrative charges pending the filing of formal complaints and the outcome of the investigation.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to full accountability, especially in cases involving members of the uniformed service.
