ALAMADA, COTABATO — Police arrested a 34-year-old man identified only by the alias “Amba” after authorities implemented a search warrant that led to the recovery of a caliber .45 pistol, live ammunition, and suspected dried marijuana in Barangay Bao, Alamada, Cotabato on August 6, 2026.
The operation was carried out by personnel of the Alamada Municipal Police Station, with support from other units of the Philippine National Police, as part of the continuing law enforcement campaign against illegal firearms and prohibited drugs in the province.
During the implementation of the search warrant, police recovered one Colt caliber .45 pistol along with a loaded magazine containing two live rounds of ammunition.
Authorities also seized one plastic sachet containing suspected dried marijuana, which was found during the search.
The recovered firearm, ammunition, and suspected illegal drug were secured and turned over to the Provincial Forensic Unit in Kidapawan City for ballistic and laboratory examinations. The forensic procedures are expected to determine the firearm’s condition and characteristics, as well as confirm the nature and composition of the suspected marijuana.
Police said appropriate charges are being prepared against “Amba” for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The arrest highlights the continuing efforts of law enforcement authorities in Cotabato to prevent the proliferation of unlicensed firearms and illegal drugs, which authorities consider threats to public safety and community security.
Police Regional Office 12 Regional Director PBGEN Alan B. Manibog said the operation demonstrates the police force’s continuing commitment to enforcing the law against illegal firearms and prohibited drugs.
“Ang operasyong ito ay patunay ng ating patuloy na kampanya laban sa mga iligal na armas at ipinagbabawal na droga. Mananatili tayong masigasig sa pagpapatupad ng batas upang mapanatiling ligtas ang ating mga komunidad,” Manibog said.
Authorities emphasized that the seized items will undergo proper forensic examination as part of the investigation and case-building process.
The suspect remains under police custody while the necessary legal proceedings and preparation of charges are being undertaken.
