ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A 60-year-old man reportedly engaged in money lending was shot dead while traveling along a road in Sitio Sinoropan, Barangay Licomo, Zamboanga City, on Friday afternoon, August 7, 2026.
The victim was initially identified as Emran Anjang Ellih, a resident of Barangay Vitali. Initial reports described him as a money lender who was traveling aboard an XRM-type motorcycle when the shooting occurred.
According to the initial account gathered by authorities, Ellih was passing through the area when residents reportedly heard several gunshots. Moments later, the victim was found lying on the roadside, bloodied and critically wounded.
Authorities said the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including injuries to the head and the back. He reportedly died shortly after the shooting as a result of his injuries.
Four empty shell casings believed to have come from a .45-caliber handgun were reportedly recovered from the scene, providing investigators with potential evidence as they work to establish how the attack was carried out and who was responsible.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the killing and whether the victim was deliberately targeted or was attacked for another reason.
Investigators are continuing their examination of the crime scene and gathering information from residents and possible witnesses who may have seen or heard something before, during, or immediately after the shooting.
