KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato — A heated altercation between in-laws turned deadly after a man was shot and killed by his brother-in-law in broad daylight along Bonifacio Street, Poblacion, Kidapawan City, at around 12 noon on Sunday, November 9.

Police identified the victim as Edmond Bautista, while the suspect was named Ramil Morales, a former security guard of a well-known politician.

According to Police Lt. Col. Josemarie Simangan, Chief of the Kidapawan City Police, initial investigation revealed that a personal dispute led to the fatal shooting. Witnesses said Morales drew his firearm and shot Bautista multiple times before fleeing the scene.

The victim sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities have launched a hot pursuit operation to track down Morales, who remains at large as of this writing.

Police investigators are still determining the motive behind the confrontation, while the firearm used in the incident has yet to be recovered.

The Kidapawan City Police urged anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to immediately contact local authorities.
