IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY — Two security guards assigned at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) office in Ipil were found dead inside the premises early Tuesday morning, November 4, 2025, in what police described as a brutal shooting incident.
Initial investigation by the Ipil Municipal Police Station revealed that the victims were identified as Jamie Dante, 52, married, a resident of Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Arkhadz Dawila Muharral, 41, single, of Linggisan, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Authorities received a report around 6:00 a.m. from a BIR employee who discovered the bodies upon reporting for duty. Responding officers led by PMAJ Pocholo Rolando C. Guerrero, together with the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), found the victims lifeless and bearing multiple gunshot wounds inside the office.
Dante sustained five gunshot wounds—one to the cheek, one to the jaw, and three to the chest—while Muharral suffered four gunshot wounds, including fatal shots to the head.
Police said one of the BIR utility workers discovered Dante’s body slumped near a bench in the receiving area. Fearing for safety, he immediately exited the building and alerted his co-workers, who then reported the incident to authorities. Muharral’s body was later found in a separate room.
Investigators are still determining the motive behind the killings. The SOCO team continues to process the crime scene and collect physical evidence.
The victims’ remains have been brought to Villa Babas Funeral Homes for post-mortem examination and autopsy.
Grieving relatives of the slain guards are calling for swift justice and urging authorities to identify and apprehend those responsible for the heinous crime.
