Zamboanga City — November 1, 2025

Two men were killed in a deadly shooting incident along the Bypass Road in Barangay San Roque, Zamboanga City, early Saturday morning. The victims, riding in a white Nissan Navarra pickup, died instantly after being ambushed by still unidentified assailants.

Initial police reports revealed that the victims’ vehicle was fired upon while traversing the road, causing it to crash on the roadside. Responding authorities found both men lifeless inside the vehicle, riddled with bullet wounds.

One of the victims was identified as Janssen Pagotaisidro, a resident of Barangay Putik. His companion, meanwhile, remains unidentified as of press time.

During the on-site investigation, authorities recovered several firearms, ammunition, suspected illegal drugs, and drug paraphernalia inside the pickup, which are now subject to forensic examination.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) has launched a thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the ambush and to identify the perpetrators. Law enforcers are also collecting CCTV footage from nearby establishments and houses to aid in the probe.

Police have not ruled out any angle, including possible connections to illegal activities, as investigators continue to piece together the sequence of events leading to the deadly attack.

The brutal shooting adds to the string of violent incidents reported in the city in recent months, prompting renewed calls for heightened security and vigilance among residents.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to coordinate with the ZCPO to help bring the suspects to justice.
