DAVAO CITY — Acting City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Z. Duterte visited the 27th Infantry (Action) Battalion on Monday at its headquarters in Barangay Malabog, Paquibato District, highlighting the city government’s commitment to the welfare of soldiers and the preservation of peace in the city.

Duterte, welcomed by Commanding Officer LTC Franklin M. Garcia, INF (GSC) PA, and the troops, stressed the importance of sustaining the morale of uniformed personnel, recognizing their vital role in maintaining peace and security in Davao City.
He also emphasized that taxpayers’ contributions must be properly allocated to support the services rendered by the military, ensuring that the sacrifices of soldiers are matched by government assistance.
“Our soldiers are at the frontlines in keeping Davao City safe and free from insurgency. It is only right that we take care of their welfare and ensure they have the support they need,” Duterte said.
The visit further reinforced the strong partnership between the local government and the Philippine Army, aimed at strengthening inter-agency collaboration to preserve Davao City’s insurgency-free status.
The 27th Infantry Battalion has been instrumental in sustaining peace efforts in the city, particularly in Paquibato District, which was once considered a hotspot for insurgent activities.
