DAVAO CITY – Law enforcement operatives swooped down on a lumber shop in Km. 12, Barangay Panacan, Davao City on August 7, 2025, seizing nearly ₱30,000 worth of illegal lumber and woodworking equipment in a decisive raid against environmental law violators.
The joint operation was carried out by the Davao City Maritime Police Station with the Naval Intelligence and Security Group – Eastern Mindanao (NISG-EM), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) XI – CENRO, Sasa Police Station, and Barangay Panacan officials who witnessed the search.
Armed with a court-issued search warrant, authorities targeted the establishment for alleged violations of Section 77 of Presidential Decree 705, or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, and Republic Act 1239.
The haul included:
- 46 pieces of Gemelina lumber
- 27 pieces of Mahogany lumber
- 93 pieces of Lauan lumber
- 24 pieces of Antipolo lumber
- Three flash doors
- One blower
- Three power planers
- Two drill press routers
- Ten circular saw blades
All confiscated items are now in police custody pending legal proceedings. Authorities stressed that the crackdown underscores their commitment to protecting the country’s natural resources and enforcing forestry regulations.
