DANGCAGAN, Bukidnon — What was supposed to be a company “Fun Day” gathering ended in tragedy after a 46-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 36-year-old younger brother to death during a drinking session at the DOLE Dangcagan Palletizing Compound in Purok 2, Barangay Osmeña, Dangcagan, Bukidnon, on Saturday afternoon, August 22, 2026.
The victim, identified in police reports as alias “Marko,” 36, sustained a stab wound to the upper left portion of his chest during a heated argument with his older brother, alias “Jaddy,” 46.
According to the Dangcagan Municipal Police Station (MPS), the incident occurred while employees of the company were holding a “Fun Day” activity inside the palletizing compound.
The two brothers were reportedly among those attending the gathering and were drinking alcoholic beverages with their fellow workers when an argument suddenly erupted between them.
Police said the confrontation was allegedly triggered by personal resentment or a longstanding grudge between the siblings.
As their verbal altercation intensified, the older brother allegedly pulled out a knife from his sling bag and stabbed his younger brother once in the left chest area.
The attack immediately turned the company gathering into a chaotic and bloody scene as co-workers and security personnel rushed to respond.
The victim sustained a serious stab wound and was immediately assisted by responders. He was transported by the Dangcagan Rescue Team to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital (BPH) in Kibawe for emergency medical treatment.
However, the victim was declared dead on arrival (DOA) by attending medical personnel due to the severity of the injury.
The alleged attacker, meanwhile, was quickly restrained following the stabbing.
Police said the suspect was apprehended by the company’s head security guard and a Shokaco team leader, preventing him from leaving the premises.
When police officers arrived at the scene, the security personnel turned over the suspect to the Dangcagan police, along with the knife allegedly used in the stabbing.
The suspect is now detained at the Dangcagan Municipal Police Station as authorities complete their investigation and prepare the appropriate criminal charges.
Investigators said the initial findings point to personal conflict between the two brothers, which reportedly resurfaced and escalated during their drinking session.
Police are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the confrontation, including the events immediately preceding the stabbing and the statements of witnesses who were present during the company activity.
The incident has cast a dark shadow over what was intended to be a social gathering for employees, underscoring the potentially deadly consequences of disputes that escalate into violence, particularly when alcohol and long-standing personal conflicts are involved.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details regarding the specific nature of the brothers’ alleged personal dispute as the investigation remains ongoing.
