LAGONGLONG, Misamis Oriental — A member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) listed under the government’s Priority Security Risk (PSR) framework voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental, turning over an improvised caliber .30 rifle and 23 rounds of ammunition, police authorities reported.
The surrender took place on August 21, 2026, in Barangay Dampil, Lagonglong, during a joint operation involving personnel of the 1st Special Action Battalion (1SAB) of the Philippine National Police Special Action Force (SAF), the 1001st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (1001st MC, RMFB 10), and other police units and government agencies.
Authorities identified the surrenderer by the aliases “Jefox” and “Kills,” describing him as a PSR-listed CTG member affiliated with the Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad Eagles, Sub-Regional Committee 1, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.
The 1SAB provided tactical support to the 1001st MC, RMFB 10 and its partner units during the facilitation of the surrender, which authorities said was carried out through peaceful and lawful means.
Rifle, ammunition turned over
During the surrender, the former CTG member voluntarily handed over one improvised caliber .30 rifle and 23 rounds of ammunition.
The firearms and ammunition were immediately placed under government custody for documentation, inventory, and proper disposition in accordance with existing procedures.
The surrenderer also remains under the custody of the 1001st MC, RMFB 10, which is processing the necessary documentation and assessment for his possible enrollment in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
E-CLIP is intended to assist former members of armed groups who choose to abandon armed activities and return to mainstream society by providing government support aimed at facilitating their reintegration into their communities.
Authorities have not released additional personal information about the surrenderer beyond his aliases and reported affiliation.
Part of continuing peace and reintegration efforts
Police authorities said the voluntary surrender highlights continuing government efforts to persuade individuals associated with armed groups to abandon the armed struggle and return to the fold of the law.
The operation also reflects the continuing coordination among the SAF, RMFB 10 and other government agencies in facilitating the peaceful surrender of individuals who decide to disengage from armed activities.
Rather than relying solely on law enforcement operations, authorities continue to promote surrender and reintegration mechanisms for individuals willing to give up armed activities and pursue a lawful return to their communities.
The recovery of the improvised rifle and ammunition also removes additional firearms from the hands of armed group members and places them under government control.
Authorities are expected to complete the documentation and assessment of the surrenderer and determine his eligibility for possible assistance under E-CLIP and other appropriate government reintegration programs.
The latest surrender adds to ongoing government efforts in Northern Mindanao to encourage members and supporters of armed groups to lay down their weapons and seek a peaceful path back into civilian life.
