Kidapawan City – July 15, 2025 — City Mayor Atty. Jose Paolo M. Evangelista has called on all offices of the local government to continue implementing austerity measures to ensure efficient and responsible use of public funds.

In a statement issued today, Mayor Evangelista reminded department heads and employees to sustain cost-cutting practices, particularly in the use of fuel, electricity, water, paper, printer ink, and other office supplies. These efforts, according to the mayor, have significantly contributed to savings for the city government.

“Let us always use [these resources] for public purpose and public welfare,” the mayor emphasized, urging all City Hall employees not to use government property for personal needs.

In a related development, Mayor Evangelista also shared encouraging news during the City Hall convocation program held Monday, July 14. He announced that casual employees of the city government may finally gain regular employment status by 2026.

“Within our term, ang atong mga qualified na mga casual employees atua nang ipa-regular tanan,” he said, stressing the administration’s commitment to recognize the long-standing service of these workers.

Based on data from the City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO), there are currently 63 casual employees working for the Kidapawan City Government. Most of them have been serving for over a decade, according to CHRMO head Rose Astudillo, and have already passed the Civil Service Commission (CSC) exam—making them eligible for the planned regularization.

Mayor Evangelista previously stated during the Capacity Development Session for Newly Elected Officials held in Davao City that he is against the politicization of casual employment and emphasized fair treatment for all qualified workers.

The twin announcements reflect the city’s direction toward prudent fiscal management and fair labor policies under the Evangelista administration.
