ZAMBOANGA PENINSULA — The Police Regional Office 9 (PRO 9) has reported significant accomplishments in its intensified campaign to uphold peace and security across the region for the month of June 2025. Under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Roel C. Rodolfo, the unit recorded notable successes in curbing the proliferation of illegal firearms and illegal drugs.

From June 1 to 30, a total of 151 loose firearms were recovered during a series of operations that included checkpoint inspections, search warrant implementations, and voluntary surrender drives. These efforts were carried out across the region as part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) ongoing campaign to reduce the number of unregistered and unlawfully held firearms — a key strategy in preventing gun-related violence.

Complementing these efforts, PRO 9 also achieved substantial results in its anti-illegal drugs campaign. Law enforcement teams seized approximately 650.86 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱3.9 million, during various operations. These included intelligence-led buy-bust operations and the enforcement of search warrants conducted in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay.

“These achievements are the result of focused police work, strong inter-agency coordination, and active community support,” said PBGen Rodolfo. “As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our mandate to enforce the law, protect the public, and dismantle criminal networks within our area of responsibility.”

The PRO 9 chief also echoed the directive of PNP Chief, Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, who emphasized the importance of sustaining peace and order efforts even beyond the recent election season. “The conclusion of the gun ban is not the end, but a transition point,” Torre said, underscoring the PNP’s continuing mission to promote lasting public safety.

As the region transitions into the second half of the year, PRO 9 reaffirms its firm commitment to intensify law enforcement operations, protect communities, and bring those involved in illegal activities to justice.
