TAGUM CITY – As Brigada Eskwela 2025 commenced, employees of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tagum City demonstrated their strong support for public schools by volunteering their time, energy, and effort to clean and prepare school facilities for the upcoming academic year. The initiative, which began on June 9 and runs until June 13, 2025, highlights the spirit of unity and collaboration between the local government, educational institutions, and the wider community.
The LGU’s active participation was also marked by the donation of over PHP 1.2 million worth of equipment to various public schools during the official Kick-Off celebration held at the Tagum National Trade School (TNTS) on June 9.
Brigada Eskwela is an annual initiative of the Department of Education (DepEd) that aims to prepare schools for the new academic year through volunteerism and the collective effort of different sectors in society. In line with this mission, the Tagum City Library and Learning Commons also joined the campaign by donating books to Busaon Integrated School on the same day.
The book turnover ceremony was attended by City Librarian Enrique H. Donayre, City Information Officer Don Kryle M. Sy, School Principal Oliver Gumapac, and Reading Coordinator Shiela Autero. The donation further reinforces the city government’s continued commitment to strengthening education and literacy among the youth.
Busaon Integrated School is also a recipient of the Book Nook mobile library project, which has adopted and enhanced the school’s library facilities.
Mayor Rey T. Uy expressed hope that through initiatives like these, more children will be reached and supported in their reading journey, helping build a stronger foundation for learning and development in the city.
