GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A man suspected of being involved in a gun-for-hire group was shot dead by an unidentified assailant while sitting on his motorcycle in Purok 6, Salazar Compound, Barangay Conel, around 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Authorities identified the victim as Daryl Petson Hequin, also known by his alias “Tatang”, an adult resident of Barangay Conel. Initial reports from Police Major Lemuel Enrijo, chief of Police Station 9, indicate that the victim was attacked without warning. Hequin was shot in the head and died instantly at the scene.
Residents nearby reported hearing three gunshots during the incident, which occurred just outside a local billiard hall. Responding forensic teams from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered a black motorcycle believed to belong to the victim and a bag containing money. A .38 caliber revolver, suspected to be owned by Hequin, was also found at the crime scene and will be subjected to ballistic examination to determine if it was used in previous crimes.
According to intelligence reports, Hequin had been linked to various shooting and robbery incidents in the city. Barangay Conel Chairperson Tessie Agbayani confirmed the victim’s identity and expressed concern over the increasing number of shooting incidents in the area.
As of this writing, authorities continue to process the crime scene and have yet to release a full spot report. The motive behind the killing remains under investigation, and police have assured the public that efforts are underway to maintain peace and strengthen security in the city.
